HETAC Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Through individual nominations, exemplary teachers are selected to be honored by their colleagues and HETAC.
The award is presented at the annual Leadership and Management Conference. These educators have demonstrated commitment to Home Economics Careers and Technology as a discipline, to their schools as visionary leaders, and to their students as exceptional role models. They represent and reflect the best of our profession in the classroom, at school, and within the communities they serve. Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award Application.
The HETAC Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award is our most prestigious award. It is given to a teacher who actively promotes interest and pride in our profession. The 2010 recipient is Tanya Wright of Pittman High School.
Dream, Dare, Do Award

This award recognizes and honors Home Economics Careers and Technology teachers who make an extra effort to enhance their local programs with innovative projects and techniques. Numerous outstanding instructors and FHA-HERO advisors continue to be selected as “going the extra mile” to practice and act on great dreams and ideas. Dream Dare Do Award Application.
New Professional Award
This award recognizes a current HETAC member with less than 5 years of classroom experience
teaching Home Economics Careers and Technology in a secondary school or in an ROCP funded program. The winner will be selected based on their involvement and contributions to the field. This award is presented annually at Leadership and Management; the winner must be present. New Professional Award Application.
FHA-HERO Honor Chapter Awards
HETAC recognizes FHA-HERO chapters in California that successfully complete the Honor Chapter application and qualify for this award. The award epitomizes a chapter of active members with strong leadership characteristics. Personalized plaques are awarded to each California FHA-HERO Honor Chapter at the annual California FHA-HERO Leadership Conference. Application is found in the FHA-HERO Chapter Guide as well as in the fall mailing.
HETAC FHA-HERO Scholarship
Annually, HETAC awards a scholarship to an outstanding FHA-HERO member who intends to pursue a career in teaching Home Economics Careers and Technology. Winners are selected based on their leadership experience, commitment, academic achievement, and recommendations of their teachers and school staff. Application is available in the FHA-HERO fall mailing or from your regional supervisor.
The 2010 Rose DeBenedetti Scholarship recipient is Saray Juarez from Eisenhower High School in Rialto.
FHA-HERO State Leadership Meeting
HETAC also sponsors the Hospitality Room at the State Leadership Meeting where Advisors are inspired to improve their chapter.
