FHA-HERO Award
FHA-HERO HONOR CHAPTER AWARDS
HETAC recognizes FHA-HERO chapters in California that successfully complete the Honor Chapter application and qualify for this award. The award epitomizes a chapter of active members with strong leadership characteristics. Personalized plaques are awarded to each California FHA-HERO Honor Chapter at the annual California FHA-HERO Leadership Conference. Application is found in the FHA-HERO Chapter Guide as well as in the fall mailing.

HETAC FHA-HERO SCHOLARSHIP
Annually HETAC awards a scholarship to an outstanding FHA-HERO member who intends to pursue a career in teaching Home Economics Careers and Technology. Winners are selected based on their leadership experience, commitment, academic achievement, and recommendations of their teachers and school staff. Application is available in the FHA-HERO fall mailing or from your regional supervisor.


The Rose DeBenedetti Home Economics Teachers Association of California Scholarship (HETAC) was awarded to Kaylee Johnson of Chino High School. Kaylee has been enrolled in Home Economics Careers and Technology classes and FHA-HERO for 4 years. She was her chapterfs Vice-President and over saw many fundraising activities. Kaylee plans to attend either Point Loma Nazarene or Cal State Long Beach to become a Home Economics Careers and Technology Teacher. Congratulations Kaylee!

HETAC sponsored the Nutrition Education and Teaching Careers Events at the 61st California Association FHA-HERO State Leadership Meeting, April 12-15, in Riverside, California. The 1st place team of Samantha Herrera and Cynthia

Medina in Nutrition Education were from Golden West High School in Visalia. The first place team in Teaching Careers was from Apple Valley High School.

HETAC also sponsored the Hospitality Room at the State Leadership Meeting Advisors were inspired to improve their chapter with FUN-fundraising. An interactive hands-on chocolate project and packaged mixes were demonstrated. Organizational tools for chapter management were also shared.
